Dr. Carsten Keune, Chief Underwriting Officer Professional Lines Asia, XL Insurance

Dr. Carsten Keune is Chief Underwriting Officer Professional Lines Asia and responsible for XL Insurance’s Asian Financial Lines business within the region between India and Japan. He is currently based in XL’s Singapore office and for more than 12 years has gained a broad experience of Professional Lines underwriting, including Directors & Officers, Errors & Omissions and Employment Practices Liability Insurance. 

Dr. Keune joined XL in 2003 and – prior to Singapore – was Underwriting Manager for XL’s Continental European Professional Lines business. Earlier in life Dr. Keune studied law and finalised his doctoral thesis in Bonn, later he worked with NGO’s and law firms in Beijing and Sydney before he joined Gerling Allgemeine Versicherungsgesellschaft AG in Cologne and London as a D&O Claims Manager in 1997. Since 2000 he worked for Allianz Versicherungsgesellschaft AG in Munich as a Senior Underwriter for D&O in the Corporate Client Segment and supported the development of Allianz’ foreign D&O Underwriting units.

Dr. Keune is a fully qualified German lawyer and is married with two children.
